While not brand-new, the trending treatment has recently captured the attention of Gen-Zers<\/a> and Millennials<\/a> alike\u2014even Simone Biles<\/a> has tried it. What Is ‘Baby Botox’ and Who Should Get It?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The low-dose injection of a neuromodulator such as Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport, Xeomin or Daxxify is \u201cmore preventative than therapeutic,\u201d says West Palm Beach, FL dermatologist Kenneth Beer, MD<\/a>. \u201cWhen doing this, my goal is to prevent lines from forming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other words, \u201cyou are just injecting a smaller dose of neurotoxin<\/a> than typically used,\u201d says New York dermatologist Dendy Engelman, MD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to employing significantly fewer units, \u201cBaby Botox\u201d differs from a traditional neuromodulator in that it is a \u201cprimarily preventative measure most beneficial for people in their 20s and 30s,\u201d says Dr. Kung. Think of it as preserving what you have. By getting \u201cBaby Botox\u201d at a younger age, patients can help \u201cprevent early signs of aging and achieve subtle, natural-looking results,\u201d Dr. Kung explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just like with other neuromodulator injections, \u201cBaby Botox\u201d will \u201cdecrease the habit of frowning, diminishing the probability that the lines become etched in<\/a>,\u201d says Dr. Beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite feeling more approachable and boasting a cute name, \u201cBaby Botox\u201d still comes with the same potential side effects you may see from a typical neuromodulator injection. After being injected, common side effects include \u201ctemporary bruising or swelling,\u201d said Dr. Kung. Post-injection, you may also experience discomfort or headaches, Dr. Beer adds. In rare occasions, \u201cslight asymmetry can occur, but it usually resolves spontaneously or is easily correctable,\u201d explains Dr. Kung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
